Dads & Dreads Father's Day Celebration with Brother G & The Unity Band

Father's Day calls for Reggae!

Brother G infuses his music and lyrics with authenticity and culture. Born in Montego Bay and living in various urban and rural locales in Jamaica, Brother G moved to the US in the 80’s and eventually made his home in Sacramento where he sang with 90’s-2000 era reggae bands Urb-n-Fiya, Ohana, and the River Jordan Band. These bands played local clubs, northern California festivals, and shared the bill with virtually every Jamaican band that came to the area: Buju Baton, Burning Spear, Luciano, Culture, and Morgan Heritage to name a few. All the while Brother G was honing his performances and writing songs emphasizing his message of love, positivity, and overcoming the struggle of living in modern day Babylon.

His current band, the Unity Band consists of veterans of the local reggae scene and a new keyboard wiz who brings youthful fire and energy to the music. Bass player Will Jones played with Sugar Boom Boom, and drummer Andy Estipular played with Rooted, as well as anchoring the rhythm section for Brother G for several years. Steve Boetther played guitar with Brother G back in the Urb-n-Fiya/Ohana/River Jordan Band days and is excited to be back in the fold. Chris Castles is a keyboard phenom who met Steve as a high school student through the Sacramento Blues in the Schools Program. This mix of new talent and veteran experience has the band firing on all cylinders and eager to share their excitement with the Sacramento scene.
